I cannot find the actual physical size of "O" gauge rolling stock, I know that Locos, and all the rest come in different lengths, but I cannot find out what they are, so can someone point me in the right direction please, ie whats the length of a Tank engine 0-6-0, Black Five, Deltic, Co-Co, Larger Express, POWs, Four wheel, two bogie carriages etc I know it asking for a length string, but I need to know the lengths to design my platforms, sidings etc, obviously I know all the gauge sizes and clearances, but cannot find the lengths, thankyou. All my stock is stored away at the moment, but i have dug out one box and taken some pictures and sizes for you. First one coach 17 and half inches buffer to buffer

Next is a J94 8 and a quarter inch buffer to buffer

Next a Terrier 7 and a quarter inch

Next coal wagon 5 and half inch

Next a Horse Box 7 inch when i get to build it

Hope that helps, i do have more but cant get to them yet.

A number of useful facts -
O gauge uses 7mm to equal I foot or a ratio of 1 to 43.5.
The largest steam tender locos needed a 70 foot turntable (490mm in scale [19 1/4 inches])
A small 0-6-0 steam tender goods loco is about 45 feet long (315mm in scale [12 1/2 inches])
A 0-6-0 steam shunting engine is about 32 feet long (224mm in scale 8 3/4 inches])
A large diesel loco is about 62 feet long (434mm in scale [17 inches])
BR Mark 1 Standard coaches are 64 feet long (448 mm in scale [17 3/4 inches])
A Mark 3 carriage is 75 feet long (525mm in scale [20 3/4 inches]) (a full HST set in Gauge O is 5 metres long! [16 1/2 feet])
A four wheel parcels van is about 37 feet long (260mm in scale [10 1/4 inches])
A 'normal' traditional wagon is 21 feet long (147mm in scale [5 3/4 inches])

If you decide to build in O gauge, the two shops i mentionned, have O gauge peco flexi track. You will find even greater problems trying to get that posted from uk. Its a size thing.
