I noticed that some company's were producing/selling lamps that slipped over lamp irons so I ordered a couple of packets of the Lee Marsh version (I also had 4 lamps come with my 45xx).
The lamps arrived and very nice they looked too however some of the slots for the lamp irons to fit into left a lot to be desired. Blocked with paint or still solid brass! I set about rectifying this and also thinning down the loco lamp irons too. Why is anything never simple or straight forward?
Any way to cut a long, tedious and cramp inducing story short, I have finally got them fitted. I did weather them a little but this really brought out the detail.
The un weathered one in the photo's is from Master Piece Models, theirs are a little chunkier and the lens is a tad bigger but also the holes for the lamp irons are much better. Over all though I prefer the looks of the Lea Marsh ones so have used those. The others I will weather and put up for sale.
