It Could Snow!

#1

Post by glencairn »

I am told it could snow Sunday into Monday!

A few inches, or more so of snow. A quick walk along the station platform and check all is locked. The Mark 1 carriage resplendent in North British Railway colours. The old signal box. Yes, all locked for the night.

Cosy log fires in the dining room and study. The coal fire in the living room banked up.
The broth simmering on the stove.
Winter is fast approaching. A glass or two of Scotch.

The snow is falling. According to the forecast all through the night.
Thick broth is served warming our insides.

Yes, the snow will be lying thick on the ground in the morning. That will be tomorrows challenge. Meanwhile Lady G and I snuggle up close and let the world pass by.

It is certainly cold enough to snow. We have our younger granddaughter visiting, so she is helping to check all is locked and okay.
I shall take her home this afternoon, then prepare dinner.

Let it snow!

Re: Late Afternoon Walk

The snow did not materialise, instead it rained.

The late afternoon sun shining a dim glow through the hazy sky. A walk in the fields beckons. Not far as the ankle that was broken a little while back reminds me that it hasn't healed properly.
Donning my fleecy jacket and walking boots, Lady G says "Be careful. Don't be too long."

Along the platform, the railway carriage on my left, the rose bushes on the right. There are no roses in bloom now; the bushes need pruning back. Down and across the old trackbed. Through the wooden gate and into the fields beyond. To the right there are taller bushes and some trees. A gentle walk as there is no rush. Mr Charlton is there walking his dog. A few pleasantries exchanged as we admire the scenery. The sun's rays shining through the trees, a path ahead.

Leaving the magic behind a gentle walk back as the evening says it is time to close down.

Howard when ever I look at the Finse web cam I feel I want to enter the hotel on the left, sit by the fire and warm up.

We used to get snow almost every year but it depends where one lives. Some areas rarely see much snow, while others can be just a few miles further inland and get a fair bit. On one railway I was on, I could see sunshine and green without a drop of snow on one side of a long tunnel, and on the other everything was white and it felt like one had come out of the tunnel into some Narnia like land!

Cardiff is odd, as normally coastal areas avoid snow, but Cardiff somehow is the exception. Could travel miles with not a drop of snow, and only see snow on the tops of the distant mountains, and then one gets to Cardiff and there is snow everywhere! It is as if the local athority had been up in the hills, collected all the snow and brought the snow down for the Cardiff people to enjoy! :D :D
