A day out on the "Midland Pullman"

Or rather an intercity 125 painted up to represent the Midland Pullman !
After last years "golden arrow trip, we had wanted to do the Settle and Carlisle one this year, but unfortunatley that wasn't running from any nearby stations, so we opted to give this a go this year. In terms of loco, I am a steam fan, but I can see the significance of the 125 and the original 60's diesel Midland Pullman.
We could get off at York or Scarborough. We opted for York as I don't believe I have ever been to the railway museum.
I was suffering in the heat, so only got to look around some of it, pity both sides of York station have all sorts of road/ building work going on which meant funneling through pedestrian path works ! but a great day out none the less, and we also spent some time watching the world and boats go by in York memorial gardens by the river Ouse. Then back on the train to be plied with more food and drink on the return journey. Unfortunately the mackerel for the evening meal starter was deemed "not up to chefs standard", but another free glass of champers each helped compensate
