Hi Everyone

Over the last week or so, I have been asked to login everytime I access the forum. Upon logging in, I know there is the box underneath the login and password boxes but I am unable to tick this box and remain logged in as the login process is so quick.

Ticking the box before doing the login doesn't work as I get a message saying either please enter your login details or login details incorrect.

If I manage to tick the box after the login details are input, I then open another tab on the chrome browser and close the original tab I was using which usually works and keeps me logged into the forum but lately I've been staying logged in for all of 20 minutes before I am automatically logged out. There is nothing for me to clear as far as I can see and I am at a complete loss over how to solve the issue.

Any advice offered would be gratefully received and welcome.

My apologies for being a pain but this has stumped me badly.

Tick remember me first then fill in your login details. Just tried it twice and it works.

I've been having the same problem myself today. And yes, I do tick Remember Me. Same problem a couple of times on new railway modellers and rmweb.

I used to get random log outs on my old iPad - cured by clearing the cache (don't ask me how).

Apologies for the late reply to this one...

Firstly, if you tick the box after you've pressed 'submit', you won't be remembered. The forum sends the details currently shown on screen at the time of the button press, even though the screen does not refresh immediately.

This does sound like a browser 'Cache' or 'Cookies' issue. If you can tell me what app you are using to access the forum, I'll find some instructions on how to clear them.

You may be using an app that, by default, blocks Cookies. Cookies are small files retained by your app which hold settings and other such information. These cookies are used to remember you on the forum. If you have blocked these, then 'Remember Me' will never work.

I am using chrome as my browser and from what I have seen in my settings, everything is set the way it should be in order for everything to work as it should.

When logging in, I don't get a chance to tick the box as when I use the login details which I saved due to my dyslexia and dyspraxia, the process to login hqppens very fast which results in me having to use the back button, manually input my password at which point I can tick the box but even doing the login that way doesn't help.

Currently, the longest I have remained logged in was just over 72 minutes.

I know there is a function at the bottom of the main index page to clear / delete cookies ( for some reason I keep wanting to call them biscuits as same spelling ) but I decided to leave trying that as I figured it is for administrators use only and I would rather not risk a telling off.

Click the stay logged in box before entering you email etc.

Many thanks for your reply, I have just done that now followed by a manual entry of username and password, now it's a case of me keeping an eye on what happens so that I can advise on further on my issues if necessary.

It seems my idea of a manual entry of login details after ticking the box as recently suggested has backfired on me aswell.

After logging in I bookmarked the page in logged in format which has previously worked as it helped me to stay logged in but, for some reason, no longer works now as I have just tried manually logging in after ticking the remember me box and got a message saying "incorrect login format, try submitting details again" and consequently, short of setting up a new account to replace this account, I am totally at a loss now.
