Getting a bit adventerous here and thinking of adding a SL-U 8364 code 83 diamond crossing.

Initially my layout will be DC but soon hopefully to DCC. Well that's the plan. In keeping with Unifrogs use straight out of the box will there be any need for any additional electrical work other than insulated out rails. I have just watched Charlie Bishops U tube video but it relates to the older diamond crossings. There didn't seem to many problems there using them as is on the older crossing.

I have also read Brian's article from his website on this and wondering again if this relates to Unifrog.

Any advice warning etc. gratefully received.

You will not need insulated rail joiners with Unifrog crossings unless you are using DC and the crossing is the boundary between two sections, or using DCC and it's the boundary between two power districts.

Whether you power the frogs using switches is optional: if you don't have any short wheelbase locos you might not have a problem. I would always make sure the frog wire is fed through the baseboard when installing, so that if you do find you need to wire it up later, it's easy to do.
