I use a Hornby select controller for my layout , and rail master e link for changing cv's sound testing/running on a piece of track .
Can anyone suggest a suitable switch which would allow me to change from programming(2 wires) in to track (2wires) in with 2 wires out to the track

Hi Brian
thank you for your response .
Will it require one wire from the track out and one from the programme out to be common for the circuit suggested to work?
As a clanky rather than a sparks I am a little out of my depth

Do not use a common connection where DCC is concerned. Always switch both feed leads.

I have a rolling road used dual purpose as a running track also as a programming track.
My wiring is via a 6-pin DPDT centre off switch. The rolling road connection goes to the centre pins of the switch and each pair of outer pins go to the running controller (TRACK) and the programming controller (PROG). Selecting the switch puts one or other controller onto the rolling road.
The switch centre off is important in order to isolate each controller before the other is connected.
The method works for a single multiple purpose controller [TRACK and PROG) or two separate controllers.
