Bob.......look up Hornby service sheet 277B which covers 2 models with the Firebox glow. Details of the Ringfield motor in the tender are clearly shown. Others can explain how to convert to DCC.....HB

Personally, I am still trying to figure out how to add a delayed motion action to my Z scale wipers on a D6100. I understand a major manufactory will be soon adding a live ash dump for OO steam models, with N scale to be announced. Additionally, there are plans in the works for OO and N automated figures to be tying real laces, in real time, as well as the Sunday Times with all the pages of a pre-digital newspaper, with the print actually readable with an electron microscope, not included.

Hi Bob,
I'm a little unclear on what exactly you need help with?
A) Is it actually installing the decoder to a Ringfield motor and then operate the Firebox glow lamp by a decoder Function?
B) Is it you are OK with how to fit a decoder to a Ringfield but you want to know how to operate the Firebox glow lamp via a decoder Function output?
C) Or is it you want to leave the existing firebox glow as today (always On when track power is On) and use the DCC to power it?

Hi
Option C is the most simplest IMO, as it only involves the decoders operation of the motor.
But if you wanted decoder operation of the firebox flicker, it will mean additional wires between tender and loco. Plus alterations to the original loco wiring.
