This is a question from a new participant of OO modelling. Do you glue/fix buildings to the baseboard or do you just let them "float" and hope they do not move?
John.
PS. If you don't ask you will never know!

I use double sided tape or velcro strips.

I glue something similar to a matchstick/cocktail stick etc. into the inside corners of a building, drill holes in the board to correspond to these then plug in the building.

I have a mixture of fixed and removable buildings. The very small ones like plate layer huts are glued down. The larger ones are just plonked down. In some case, like a group or row of buildings, these are glued down on a thin board and this just sits on the layout. In all cases electrics for lights etc are connected via a plug and socket so can be easily removed for repairs.

My buildings are all "loose". They sometimes need moving to allow access to something close-by. If there well made and straight, they should sit in place with no problems.

My buildings have been on the layout for 20 years, not fixed and certainly not moved either.
Why would they move anyway?

Things can get nudged out of position. The main ones I plugged into the board were the engine sheds. The track was a tight fit entering them so if they moved only a fraction the loco would hit the entrance.

I could never get that right with my engine shed - I took the doors off in the end, and I could still manage to give it the occasional nudge. R-

Roger, just when you think you’ve got it right, disaster.
