DCC/analogue

This is probably a daft question, but...

Once I'm sorting the wiring, point motors etc; I can start off using basic analogue control to check it all works etc in the meantime before I make the investment in DCC control - as in both will operate on the same wiring.

I'm going to use bus wires around the layout, with every track section live; insulated joiners on the right bits of points etc.

Hi
Not daft at all. In fact a daft question is the one that is not asked! :o
Yes, you can indeed use Analogue point motor control, even with full DCC loco control. Just keep the wiring totally separate for both systems.

I just want to be able to play trains using an analogue controller before I have funds to invest in DCC.

a good strategy imho......

are you going to rely on points to electrically isolate trains?

there are many of us who still play with DC only trains. Its not a step up to DCC, although, it is an expensive one. Its just a different concept. You drive the train, as opposed to the track. I have just started a major rebuild, 4.25x 2.4 metres, involving two Helixes. All this, will be DC, as i have 100 DC locos. Incorporated, will be a DCC section, utterly self contained. You get more bang for your bucks, in most cases, with DC. On a completely different note, i needed a full box of Peco, 100 flexi, which has become, a bit like Hens teeth. Hattons want £76, plus postage, plus customs, so extortionate, where i live. A model shop in Strasbourg, is offering boxes at £88, no customs, and £6 delivery, plenty of stock. Happy bunny.
