Photographed this chap at an exhibition in King's Lynn, Norfolk, a few years back.
Scenery a bit basic, but his trains ran like clockwork thanks to all his loving care - despite being more than 50 years old.

Ha ha, had to laugh at this remark. I should think most of the members on here have passed that landmark!
I went to that show as it is my local one but can't say I remember that particular layout, probably gave it a swerve when I saw the three rail set up.

I think he was referring to the models not the person! (but of course you knew that!

I just loved the way he'd faithfully maintained these things and kept them going for donkey's years.

Many railway modellers do that. There are members on here with Hornby Dublo layouts that are a lot more than 50 years old. Once again that refers to the trains.

There were a few more off-beat things there. This gentleman had modelled an open-cast cheese mine staffed by mice.

I like that. When I lived in Slough we had a local treacle mine. That would be worth modelling.

No doubt Tate and Lyle factory was sat on top of it? Bit sticky IMO for a model
