I took delivery of my Queen Elizabeth 4-6-2 today and I need to fit a DCC decoder. This goes in the tender and the instruction sheet just says 'tender body lifts off'. Well - maybe it does but I can't make it budge. Not even the slightest crack to suggest it isn't one solid casting. There is a screw holding the coupling to the locomotive in place but removing it didn't seem to make any difference.
Is there some trick that other members here know or do I have to contact Bachman to get more information?

Yes, but all it says is 'tender body lifts off'. There's no indication of any screws or anything else. I've noticed that underneath between the wheels is an odd plastic hook shape but it's not mentioned in the service sheet.

Re: Removing tender body, Bachman
Just insert a stanley blade between the tender body and the chassis and lever gently.

Thanks, Brian. I took her upstairs (ooh er) and when presented with the rest of my railway stuff the tender body just popped right off. Then it took ten minutes to work out how to get it back on. Just a matter of pulling in the right place I suppose..just like Matron said to the Doctor.
Don't she look pretty:

Hopefully in a week or two I'll have laid enough track to actually give her a run
