Is it better to have individual holes for each of the two dropper wires, or to have one hole in the middle for both the droppers? I have started with two holes but it then seems to restrict any movement left or right to ensure the track is dead straight.
The great Charlie Bishop on Chadwick Model Railway appears to use one hole.
Your feelings, thoughts, comments or suggestions please?

I can't say which is best but I personally use a single hole in the centre for simplicity. By soldering the wires to the bottom of the rails facing inwards there is virtually no sight of them from the sides and a dab of paint before ballasting makes them all but invisible.

One hole seems to be the way to go.

One hole is IMO better, as it allows the track to be moved left and right of that hole for better alignment of the tracks if required. Soldering dropper wires to the rails undersides before track laying then produces an invisible dropper connection once the track is ballasted.

Thank you chaps. It is funny how it is not until you start to do something that you then question is this the best way,
or can it be done a better way. Fortunately I flagged this question up after I had done only two or three pieces of track so I can easily put it right.

I mainly used two holes as I found it easier to put the track in place and then drill the holes. However, it does make it more difficult to hide wires under the ballast. For track near the font of the layout I use one hole.

I have found that using a counter sink on the hole eases the wires slightly better than having a hard shoulder that tends to catch the wires. Just enough to take the shoulder of the top of the hole.
