Rolling road?

Evening all

I'm looking at investing in a rolling road to assist in the upkeep of my locos but have no experience whatsoever.

My era is early to mid 90s so have diesel and electric locos in OO manufactured by Hornby, Lima and Bachmann for DC, some old some new.

Do I need to spend much and once purchased should they last?

Thanks in advance

David

I have a Direct Train Spares rolling road. Good value and works a treat.

Here’s an example.

Have a look at this site:

https://tencommandmentsmodels.co.uk/pro ... ing-roads/

I have these in N and OO, not cheap but absolutely superb pieces of equipment.

I use that rolling road and can recommend it. Very adaptable.

I have the DCC Concepts one which looks very similar to this.

Hi

I use the DCC Concepts version as well, works well but don't be fooled by its multi format claim, pick a gauge and stick with that.

For those of you using the Ten Commandments version I looked and was concerned about the lack of bearings on the rollers, given that its just brass on steel, for those that have given there a lot of use, have you noticed any wear in the brass rollers ?

Paul, mine has had a fair amount of use - haven’t noticed any problems with wear as yet, still as free running as the day I bought it about five years ago.
I bought mine at a show (remember those :D ) direct from the original manufacturer - Marion Zoeller? Eccentric continental chappie with an extravagant moustache if I recall correctly.

Mines also had a fair bit of use and I can't say I've noticed any wear at all.

Be interesting to see how find the wheel cleaner Steve.
