would a laptop PSU be OK for point motors?
would a laptop PSU be OK for point motors?
I have a surplus latop power supply with 18.5V/3.5A DC output. Would this be OK to use with Peco/Hornby point motors?

Re: would a laptop PSU be OK for point motors?
Yes, it would be OK to operate one motor at a time with no CDU.
It can even feed a CDU input if wished, then two or more motors could move together, such as on a cross-over pair of points
Note: The reason I've stated one motor without a CDU is due to the current drawn as a Hornby/Peco solenoid motor draws around 3 to 4Amp momentarily. So one should be fine at a time, but two motors moving together without a CDU could possibly cause the PSU internal overload to trip?
