I'm now starting with scenery and have a street of Metcalfe houses and a corner shop. What advice can anyone offer please for securing them to my baseboard which is mdf.
Thank you.

Morning Andrew. I used to use a dab of PVA to fix it permanently. Or if you lay a path around the bulding it can slot into the path. Or glue a piece of matchstick/cocktail stick inside each or a couple of corners then drill holes in the board and plug in the building.
Other ways are available.

Hi aj - Many modellers don't secure their Metcalfe buildings (there are other makes) down - possibly due to accessing parts of the layout. I have a street of Metcalfe buildings and they are currently off the layout as I have been doing some work where it was better to remove them than damage them. The buildings are fairly robust and their weight keeps them in place. If you want to secure them, a dab of pva would probably suffice. BB

Like BB I don't secure my buildings to the baseboard except for very small eg sheds, plate layers huts. I also connect the wires for lighting via tiny plugs and sockets. It certainly paid off recently when I disassembled my entire layout and all the buildings were removed undamaged in minutes so I can re-use them on my new layout.

I use strips of velcro tape, keeps buildings inline and easy to remove.

I've used both PVA and UHU glue all applied in four small blobs in the buildings corners. Both work well and with a craft knife the glue can be easily released.

Slightly O/T but anyone know, or heard a whisper, when Metcalf models might be back in production ?
The web site says "Closed Down until ??", and most shops have little or no supplies of these models left.

If that’s what the site says I guess that’s it.

I am sure I read somewhere that Metcalfe were restarting production this week, but clearly there will be a lead time to replenish stock at the retailers.
