Went into Lidl yesterday for shopping and came accross a roll of artificial grass for sale
size 200 x 100 cm.
What great value and looked great, just right for model railway.
Can be cut to and sizes
£6.99 bargin in my opinion.

I got a couple when my local Homebase was closing. I've not used them but have experimented and they do improve even my poor attempts at a 'layout'.
Just having grass all around does make a massive improvement on bare board.

Do you have to mow it?

just to clarify that the roll of grass is very short and a mixture of colours
which makes it ideal for any model railway.
Just cut to size and lay.
Looks great.

I have been using similar on my layouts for a little while. I get mine from garden centres a couple of pounds a time.

Is it short and fine enough for a model railway?

Short and ready to lay about 1 mtr wide and 2 mtrs in length.
I think its just the job for model railay and I have laid some down on my layout allready

I finally got around to putting down the grass!
Here are a few photos. The track isn't powered or even fully connected and most certainly not tacked down in any way
