Using DCC80 autofrogs with 3 way points

#1

Post by Richard »

Good evening,
I’ve got a Peco Code 75 asymmetric electro frog three way point. I understand how to link the three frogs to the two PL13 accessory switches attached to the two motors to change the frog polarity. However, I am now intending to use DCC80 autofrogs for simplicity and need to know whether the connections to the frogs are the same or whether I will need to use three of them, one for each frog.
Thanks

Hi
AFAIK you only have two frog wires? So therefore only two Auto frogs are needed.

There are three frog wires. Your book shows that the two frogs nearest the base of the turnout are activated by one motor while the furthest is activated by the other. Does the same apply using the DCC80? Thanks.

Technically as two of the frog wires are joined together on the first (front end switch or switching device) then there is only two. Treat as two ;)
