Small industrial layout

I am back into it after 40 odd years.

I have one steam loco. Thats it! A Sentinel Y3 OO gauge. Yes space is a problem.

I am working on a small industrial layout.

This is my current idea. The bit where the 100mm right angle track is will be a wagon turntable. (I am sure I can build that from scratch) The two track lengths to the left is removable storage tracks.

My main concern is having a useable layout design.

Oh! and getting a wagon into the right angled siding without the hand of god interfering.

3 of the 4 ends don't look long enough to take a loco plus small wagon. Consider making them a double length straight instead of a single. Even a 1/2 straight extra can give enough for some locos I think.

Yes Ian, the ends are very small, the 90 degree one holds one wagon and no loco, the upper right one will hold one wagon or loco and the bottom right will hold two wagons or one wagon and one loco. This will be a tight city scene.

My loco is a Sentinel Y3, so very small.

One question I have:

I plan on using Kadee couplers with electromagnetic uncoupling. How close to points can these be?

My original thoughts were to have a factory platform either side of the wagon turntable. Then with the run around track I could load the end siding and turntable with out disturbing any wagons on the second platform.

Maybe the second plan is better.

Its both smaller and cheaper.

At 700 mm I could afford to add 100 mm or so and still be under my original size.

I also wanted to concrete over the tracks near the wagon turntable. The point makes this a bit bore difficult. I guess I could concrete from the frog area of the point onwards.
