Sorry if this has been asked before.

I just went to create a listing for the first time in a while, and now I can only see the postage options via ebay. Previously I could arrange my own postage and just list how much I would charge. Can I still do this somehow or is it all tied into ebays system now ?
Also I note that buyers pay a seller protection fee, does this mean someone who bids on an item pays more than the bid reaches and it goes automatically to ebay, or does the seller pay that fee ?

The new system does seem a backward step to me !

As a buyer, I pay the extra 'buyer protection fee' not the seller so if the fee is £1.20 and my successful bid is £50.00 with free postage I pay £51.20

I've not sold anything lately but have seen comments that suggest only the options within Ebay for postage are allowed.

Postage can still be arranged by yourself Tel, i use RM collection service, cheapest and covered fully 24hr or 48hr. Tracked and keeps you informed.

New buyers fees have arrived, The Buyers protection Fee is calculated as
A flat fee of up to £0.75 per item.
4% of the item price up to £300
2% of any portion of item price from £300 to £4000.
Buyers reaction will show in there bids no doubt. Sellers fees remain free.

Yep, that is what I would prefer and do when selling stuff through forums, but I cant find a way to set it up and list my own potage costs, I can uncheck evri (useless around here), but still have to use the ebay system and their fixed pricing, unless I have missed something ?
I did switch between easy listing and advanced, but still no option I could see to manually set a postage rate/courier.

I rarely bid TBH, i usually use buy it now unless I happen to be around near the end of a listing and I REALLY want the item. I havent seen any additions to the BIN pricing, but I have seen when a seller makes an offer, they do come in at their offer plus the fee on top !

The "free" listing obviously was a hook to get more sellers on board, and they are clawing it back via these seller protection malarkey. you would think with the competition out there in the form of social media and app based sellers they would need to be more competitive, not try to make even more out of it !

I've recently sold a few railway items on eBay and successfully navigated their new (to me) payment system, but why, out of all the bidders, do you always get one that doesn't pay or respond to messages?
I detest time wasters.

I have a few items on ebay currently and use it regularly to move stuff I don't want or use, though for me it has been a rare occurance where buyers have not paid or responded to a message.

I agree it is frustrating and a waste of time for the seller but I usually just re-list and block the buyer. Incidently if some potential buyer offers a low ball amount for an item they also get blocked. These buyers I do not trust and if you want to be serious about an item then put in a realistic offer.

well it's very slow on there atm, bargains to be had!

just picked up a Hornby King Class TTS Sound fitted loco, listed at £166 and with the July 20% off prome cost me £133 and it's brand new.
Also 4 WR coaches from rails listed t £143.00 for £96.00 with discount.
