I seem to recall they were regular sites back in the early fifties. I was not far from you Howard - born and living in Muswell Hill.
A quick dirty wash Brian will soon have the level crossing looking even better.

It was Howard. Flew the aircraft for most of the flight.

I can’t imagine how they do that.

Carefully

Must have been quite an experience Brian - how old was the aircraft?

Brilliant effort!

Godspeed to recovery LC&DR. For what it's not worth, my grandpartents lived into their late eighties, and swore on the use of wearing copper bracelets. Granddad was taking his daily strolls until very late in life, and never was troubled by arthritic fingers. I don't know if it was a placebo effect, but I know what I saw.

Another remedy not often discussed is the use of bee stings (yup) applied directly to the affected joints. Beekeepers have an unusually low rate of arthritis. Apparently, it is something in the venom that breaks down the arthritic process. Ice, as a numbing agent, is applied to the affected joint first.
As I advance in age, I'll be the first to let you know if it works!
