Alan is actually my middle name, not my surname. I've got one of Ian Allan's railway books, dated 1967, so when I joined the Forum, I thought that it would be an apt username.
In case you are wondering, No, my mum has never been a railway fan. She chose Ian because she liked it, and Alan in memory of a family member. She's 91 and still going strong.
