The reason I asked was, I am going to do something along those lines (pardon the pun).............Because my small room it is bit restrictive I was wondering how to get longer station in. The big drawback of a platform on the outside of a curve is the size of the gap you have to leave to get clearance on the buffer beams - not helped by having to use R3 curves. But it does fill up an empty corner quite well. The good news is that when a train is in the station, you can’t see the gap from the viewing point.
I must knock up a trackplan on the computer at some point.
