I have now replaced the underboard lighting (LIDL's) and have upgraded the power supply to 5amps. The DCC Concepts Alpha system should have all point motors working and getting all of their power and signals via the track - no separate wiring. Not normally recommended, but they assured me it would work without any problems. I now have to wire all these items together and get my layout diagram made with all of the relevant point switches installed. I have been getting this kit together over the nine months, therefore spreading the cost.

Thanks Brian - but I haven't done the wiring yet . The actual panel containing the layout diagram and point switches will be on the lid of the desk as you see it at the moment, and as the items appear at the moment, lengthy extension leads may be required. The various electrical panels have four screw holes (each corner), and I am wondering whether with a suitable spacer (plastic tube?) I could mount some of the panels on top of one another? Just a thought, but I do want to keep it as tidy as possible.

my only suggestion is that the terminal blocks on the boards on the right hand side of the photo seem to be butted up to the board below, and thus have no clearance... I'm sure you've thought of this already and will provide a bit of buffer space!

Hi Stese - I think it may be the angle from which the picture was taken. There is plenty of room, but I am thinking of seeing whether I can stack some of the components. They really need to be immediately below the mimic panel.

This is where it all gets a bit serious - I have got to get it right first time
All of the point operating equipment will fit inside the mimic panel box(?). The Elite and turntable controls will fit neatly below the mimic panel. This will leave me with a larger area of desk top than I had before to use as a workstation - well that's the idea. I am hoping that with suitable spacers (brass/plastic tube), I can stack some of the pcb's - this will allow wiring to pass beneath the pcb and then connect to the next pcb. The picture shows the Switch D's placed on top of one another. The white sockets on the Switch D take the wires to the push-buttons on the panel, and then the wires from the green sockets go into the yellow connectors on the board below, if that makes sense?
