A non solvent adhesive. e'g non solvent' UHU, neat woodworking PVA or Tacky Glue are three suggestions.

Thank you for that information, I have just got myself a sheet of I think it is 5 mm foam board from Hobbycraft.
I can have a play with it and see how I get on. I suppose a good sharp craft knife would be best for cutting it.
For corners of a building do you cut it at a 45 degree angle and if so how do you cut at an accurate 45 degrees?
Do you brace the Internal corners and if so how?

Dont cut the corners at 45 degree angle it will only end in tears. You need to get 10mm square bars of balsa or any wood you have about. These can be used on the inside corners to glue sides to, the longer the bars the better. The shell of the building will then be nice and solid.
Besides sharp knives, a set of small files a square and metal rules, also numerous small clamps will be needed as with any scratch build job.
