I just love keeping the roads free of potholes with my large tax contribution annually :o
Well I wish they would come and spend some of that money in Hampshire - both my car, my wife's and my next door neighbour have needed new rear coil springs fitted - all in a month!

It's a shame Road Tax isn't ring fenced into transportation... the Government pass the liability for potholes to local councils and then squeeze them for funding... which is why councils can't afford to fix the potholes.

If you've got a pothole near you, report the issue to the council with a claim for the damage to all 3 vehicles...

Maybe Councils should spend less on some other activities until the roads are repaired, or at least repair the roads properly.

Having said that we noticed the once smoothish roads in Belgium and France are now much the same as ours.

What do we get from our councils for our £2k p.a. council tax?
Music concerts.
Pride events.
No Mow May - which lasts until October.
Bin men that spread rubbish down the street, while wearing furry pink ear muffs (I have the video!)
Pot holes the size of a small Wash county.
Failure to enforce regulations on antisocial drinking.
Curious planning decisions.

Now I’ve got that off my chest, I should remind members of the ‘no politics’ forum rule.

Back on topic please.

Hi, Brian, you are right about French roads. In our lane, lorry comes down with tarmac. Guy puts it in hole. jumps on it with his boots, and departs. 10 tractors later, its all out.

Thats a lot of council tax , Steve. Its £770, here, but no dustbin men. we take to end of the road. Also pay £70 year for use of tip. Great place. They shake hands, empty your car, and ask if you want anything from the pile of useful stuff they have put by.

My council tax, band A, is £1600 but I get a £400 discount as a single person household.

Car tax due end of October, think it's about £180.
