I'm another happy user of smart plugs (though some are more compatible with different software than others).
On mine you can say "Hey google, turn on loft light" etc and it responds.
The app control means activation whilst you are away from home too..if you had the need.
And they have a timer section to come on say 7-9 each evening, though haven't used that to-date.
LED strips could be butchered into sections for buildings, or perhaps as general light for whole diarama.
They are often used with a diffuser casing for more even light distribution.
Also LED strips often come with light/movement sensor, intended for dark cupboards to come on only when needed.
