My Dad used to get the steam effect back in the day by blowing smoke from his Players No6 across the layout. Grandad would use Woodbines. :shock:

I’m happy to be smokeless on my layout now.

They have been doing this on kiddies toy trains for years. They only need a litrle water and a heating element. The steam usually lasts around 15 minutes and the kid adds a few drops more water and his toy train carries on. It is much better then using smoke oils as it does not leave nasty smells.
