Altered Austin K2 Dropside lorry
Re: Altered Austin K2 Dropside lorry
BM - fab job on the truck.... looks perfect for the era and setting.
I also like the cobbles and might refer back to that at a later date when I come to do future road surfaces.
Good luck with the job search......I am currently on garden leave after being shown the door after 25 very successful years......... however thru good contacts I have found a new job starting on 1st Dec, so there are still jobs out there, but it is very scary how many good people are being let go from all walks of life.........I hope you find something soon......btw - “Linked-In”is now the place companies, recruiters and job seekers actively utilise - it has all changed dramatically since I last had to look for a job.
Cheers - Richard

Thank you Bandit Mick, that is very helpful. Good luck with the job, work is a dirty word for me, I did 42 years with my company, now been retired nearly five years and believe me the years pass quicker when you are retired that when you are working.

Re: Altered Austin K2 Dropside lorry
How big an area overall did you cobble?
I hope to cobble my under construction part Dock Side layout, but I will have about 4 metres of double track to do and to be quite honest I do not know where or how I will start it. I have looked at DAS using a cobbled roller, plaster looks very messy, card does not really seem to fit the bill. Any suggestions anybody?
It is a little while away yet as I cannot get hold of a 12 pack of Tortoise Motors anywhere which I need to fit first.
They appear to be as rare as rocking horse poo.

The Wills cobbles (and indeed any of there builder packs) are very realistic. The Sligo Rover wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 3:45 pm How big an area overall did you cobble?

Re: Altered Austin K2 Dropside lorry
Sligo Rover - my cobbled area is only 1 foot by nine inches and I used one and a bit packs of setts/cobbles because I had to cut some and the bits left over to use would have led to more joins. It will make your space expensive as a pack is about 4 quid. You could have a go at making a ‘stamp’ with a small piece and then press it into das clay but I imagine this might be quite difficult. Apparently you can buy a roller but again I imagine practise will be needed. I do think the plastic cobbles are effective when distressed and painted. In real life, my colours are better than my photo shows.

Good job, I think it changes the look of a vehicle a lot, much more realistic. It isn’t my idea, I read about it some time ago.
That really is a superb picture. Makes me feel quite chilly.

Superb work and very inspirational. Thanks for all the tips.

Re: Altered Austin K2 Dropside lorry
In your first picture I thought the lorry had a very bad oil leak but realised from your second pic it was a puddle.
Looking very realistic well done Bandit Mick.
