Wheelchair users and others not able to use the footbridge at Northwich station (on the Manchester to Chester route) are unable to access the Chester bound platform. At one time they were able to use the barrow crossing, but that was forbidden a few years ago. Disabled passengers have to go to the next stations along the line, Greenbank if heading to Chester or Lostock Gralam if heading to Manchester. Those have road bridges alongside them and ramp access to both platforms.
The closest station with lift access to all platforms including those used by the Manchester Metro services is Altrincham.
