Back scene backing board

Does anyone have any ideas on what to use as a back scene base board? I need to be able to bend it 90 degrees at the corners with a radius of about 100 mm, maybe 150 mm max. Yeah I know its tight.

At the moment it looks like having the corners squared with a plastic cut from a stationary folder bent into the corner.

I am certainly not at this stage yet but I want to have a plan ready so it doesn't effect present construction.

Thin ply is good. You could use a sheet of plasticard for the curve.

3 ply won't bend that tight, or are you saying for the straight sections with plastic on the curves? that looks like what I will do. Just looking at other options. And I don't want to see a seam.

You can get thin MDF with grooves on the back that allows it to be bent into gentle curves - that’s what I would pick.

I was suggesting ply with a sharp right angle bend with a plasticard curve inserted in the corner.

Yes walkingthedog, tat was where I was headed too. Im just a bit concerned about seams.

Craftform has a 200 mm minimum radius. Borderline for me.

I found a better option. 100 mm minimum radius.

As an alternative you could use ordinary 3mm ply and steam it into shape around a suitable former - fiddly but may prove stronger in the long term.

Like that idea Steve .......... Thanks...Guess you use a wall paper steamer do you. Have never used one of those as I have always avoided wallpapering. Will look into getting one as I am about to put up back scene board before laying track on mine. John
