Just ruined my XU2175M XURON TRACK CUTTER
Now, I Just ruined my £12.00 XURON track cutters with cutting the Seep rod on my point motors. That will teach me for buying cheap from eBay as they don't warn you like the Track Shack shop adds. lol. This aside, any suggestions on harden cutters for this sort of work. Thanks

Only ever cut track with Xuron track cutters. Says so on the tin.
I have two pairs, one for track and the damaged ones I cut some wire with. Still very useful.

I am surprised you did not know that point motor bars are hardened steel so they dont bend easily Brian. We live and learn

O I am sorry Brian must say I was surprised,,,,,,, would have expected you would have known. I posted to wrong post. I should have posted to Collectors................. So keep in mind that cutting pliars are not able to cut hardened steel like point motor pins. Dont blame ebay
Is all a learning process. ............John

Unless they came without their packaging it does say what they should be used for.

I was under the impression they can be sharpened. Regularly, dress mine. I keep a pair of stanley wire cutters on bench for anything i am not sure about.

Yes, reading instructions is all very well, but I am a guy, getting older plus impatient "sometimes" = serrated cutter teeth.
So I am joining the club with what sounds like it has a large membership as a bi-cutter member. "Hope it not catching".
Thank goodness I only have one more to do & the other four are all surface mounts.

Been there done that! ooops
You could use a Dremel type cutter although I know some people advise against that also due to the pin flying off. I purchased a sturdy pair of side cutters which haven't failed me yet. I do find though that I can't get the pin quite as low as I would like, but that's probably not a bad thing as it prevents it coming out when it moves from side to side.
