It’s LCut. Slowly, slowly, a lot of dry runs, but a bit more progress this evening.

Some progress; the footbridge is done, not sure about smoke deflectors under the walkway, it doesn’t look like Hull footbridges had any. Spray booth next, well a very large cardboard box The white card is where the signal box will sit.

The footbridge is ready for trainspotters, crisp packets and empty cans.



The gates have had the mesh fitted, not the easiest to cut, gently does it

Great work. Footbridge is very good, did you decide against the smoke deflectors? Look forward to seeing the crossing gates in position.

I suppose the jury is still out on the smoke deflectors; I’ve not tried them, but being at an angle they will sit awkwardly across the bracing brackets (if that’s what they’re called) and not sure what they will look like. I’m sort of hanging on the fact that the crossing in Hull idea is based on, didn’t have any. But then I might have a play and try them

The crossing gates will be fixed, I really can’t be bothered with all the hassle of trying to motorise them and besides as the track level drops I think there will to large gaps under the gates, not exactly prototypical.

Looks very much like a footbridge still seen in some places on the railway network. These bridges were also found in covered form. Example, even though they do not look it, the one at Llanelli is a covered version of these and I think (If I recall) there is a covered version at Bridgend. The footbridge at Pembrey & Burry Port station (Which has had a major restoration twice in its life) has never been covered. It has its stairways going off where one is going the different direction to the other. The one at Haverfordwest once was covered, but a Station Supervisor saw a fault with its roof and reported it around 30 years ago and its roof was completely removed for safety reasons, so I assume rust had got to its roof supports? It now looks like an ordinary uncovered footbridge. Why I love to know if any of the other uncovered type ever had roofs to them in the past.

Interesting, I’ve just had a look at images of the three main crossings in Hull, in the stream era, footbridges at both Hessle Road and Anlaby Road had metal loops over the top and one at Holderness Road was covered over, more mesh than a roof.

Up until last year the footbridge at Beverley railway station had a full covered wooden structure, but despite being listed (I believe) it has been replaced with an open structure
