Its "Only" taken me 18 months to get to this stage
But the lower level track has finally met up, just about 2.5 m of wiring to complete, and all the point motors !

The latest track plan, the blue being the yet to be started upper level.

It looks good TT. I'm looking forward to seeing it progressing further. Are you planning to put any 'walls' onto the layout where the track gets close to the edge of the baseboard? It would be a shame to have a train go over the side if it derails. I was also thinking that you could perhaps add a triangle of board on the right to give more room for safely containing derailments and scenic features. Just a thought.

Yipes, that craftsman level benchwork is amazing. The trackwork immaculate. To my curiosity, not to advise, are you planning on roadbed? And of course, ballast will cement the entire works into memorium, so I assume you have great confidence in what is laid out? It does look superb.

Sorry for the late replies, been a bit busy with other things !
Thank for the kind words guys. To answer your questions:

There will be walls around the exposed edges, partly as it will form a backdrop on some sections, The longest section facing the front I plan to have a "wall" of clear perspex. Yes I do intend to add a triangle in that corner :)

Yes there will be ballast eventually, First there needs to be some operational testing to ensure I am happy, but an early run of an analogue 0-6-0 looked promising with regards to electrical and physical running.
I will want to test with some long coach trains and larger locos to ensure no clearance issues also. I don't anticipate any as I self imposed a limit of minimum of 21" Radius and any under 36" have Hornby style set track clearances between the rails, so as long as I have my blending to Peco track spacing correct, we should be golden !

Is looking good.

Always exciting when one gets to run trains!
