WEST ORTON
Re: WEST ORTON
Not even close.
42 (the answer to the ultimate question of life yes universe and everything - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) was also the value applied to the asterisk symbol in early computer programming. (Douglas Adams was a computer geek).
The definition of * is that it can mean anything you want it to.
The theme music from the original BBC series was 'Journey of the Sorcerer' by the Eagles.

Re: WEST ORTON

A good day spent at the NYMR steam Gala yesterday.
Unfortunately I am now sat in the waiting room of York Hospital having developed all the symptoms of a detached retina during the trip.
And I haven't even got to TMC at Goathland yet.

Re: WEST ORTON
Great picture - I was watching a live stream of Grosmont this morning - I looked out for you. I hope you get your eye sorted out - the Mrs. will have to do the driving

Re: WEST ORTON
Chris doesn't drive! Only 300 miles from home.
I did spot myself in someone else's video on Facebook from yesterday as 257 Squadron pulled out.

So i rocked up at Scarborough a&e at 9 this morning. Referred on to York Opthalmology for a review this afternoon.
Saw three consultants who have just completed two rounds of laser surgery on a torn retina in my right eye.
Discharged with a review back home in a week or so.

Thanks Brian.Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Fri Sep 26, 2025 7:58 pm Just what you need on holiday, sorry to hear that Steve.
It b####red up my photography at the gala yesterday, ended up just pointing the camera in the general direction - I know I cut off a few chimneys. And just when I get my fingers sorted out ready to do some painting this happens. Sod's Law in action.
No idea how the last few days of the holiday will play out but we do have a generous offer from the farm we stay on to stay on to the end of next week if necessary.
That should give me time to get up to TMC at least.
No driving at night for a while though.

Re: WEST ORTON
Managed to get into Scarborough this afternoon after being confined to barracks yesterday and this morning.
The old model shop in the old town is still there after 42 years. The owner passed away this year but his wife is keeping it going.
Always try to buy something each year - this time a rather nice BR Fair burn 2-6-4.
One advantage (?) of my eye problem is that can't read the price tags - got a nice surprise when I checked the receipt later.
