After a hiatus of several months for family reasons (mum having to go into a care home and having to get her house ready to go on the market), I've been able to get back to some railway modelling in recent weeks. I've been carrying on with refreshing some of the scenery.

I wasn't totally happy with the backscene at the station end of the board, so I've resized the factory next to the bridge and altered the terrace housing, adding an additional layer of roofs behind the top layer .I've also blocked off the end of the road, except for pedestrian and cycle access to the factory.

Also at that end I've re-done the cobbled area and adjacent vegetation. I've ordered some new post and wire fencing to put round the headshunt.

This has carried on along the approach road and includes new road markings at the junction with the main road.

Finally I've re-done the war memorial area and also replaced the street lights along the main road (2 different types, modern ones on the shops side and the older type on the other side).

The next jobs are to put the vehicles back and have a general tidy up before working on the other end (refreshing the vegetation and trees on the bank overlooking the loco shed).

Sometimes we need a break from the layout, for whatever reasons - and family comes before model trains - as in your case. After a lengthy break you can come back inspired. It's good to see you back and some progress on the layout.

Looks good. As Barry said a change in routine can bring fresh enthusiasm.
"Not very stable, but incredibly versatile." ;)

Just catching up after being away on holiday etc….. my you have been busy and it puts me to shame as I have not done anything on the layout for a couple of months.

Great work and keen to see what more is planned.
