Hornby King running issue

#1

Post by dtb »

Hi
Has anyone got any suggestions as to what is wrong with the loco please. See video below.

It's new and I have had it running each way for 30 minutes plus.

Looks perfect to me. Nice slow running or is it supposed to be going fast?

Sounds more like something plastic rubbing against one of the wheels. R-
Young at heart. Slightly older in other parts.

Sounds like a gear meshing problem

I have taken a close look but unable to see what the issue can be, I turned it over and applied power to the wheels and it isn't noisy,

Sorry I didn’t have the sound on before. Is something under the loco or tender dragging on the track. A sand pipe etc. Is it noisy with power applied off the track but the right way up?

Fixed!

I narrowed the noise down to the front bogie so popped the loco on the rolling blocks with the bogie unsupported. No noise was heard.

I popped the loco back on track and lifted the front bogie while running in reverse, again no noise was heard.

The bogie wheels are in enclosed and it was the axle grinding under rotation so a spot of oil and issue solved, thanks for your help.

Spoke to soon

It's not that but has something to do with the front bogie.

I will just send it back.
