Heathly Heritage and Freight - the garage

Being past mid-seventies in age the loft was a no no. We do have two spare rooms but now and then they get occupied. So the garage it was. I was advised to insulate it and to get a timed and temperature controlled heater. This is a pictorial view of the progress, some images may have been on the old site. Progress has been intermittent because SWMBO and I have had hospital spells/visits to contend with.

SWMBO's daughter and S.I.L. having cleared the clutter from the garage my sons rallied around to insulate, paint and carpet it. One of my lads fitted tube LEDs that although giving terrific light, only consume 4.75 Watts. He also checked the insulation by running the noisy electric tools with the door shut - I heard nothing (we do have double glazing fitted). The underlay and carpet were ex-lounge and saved for that eventuality. The white paint was only just enough but the brown stain would have done a thousand base-boards.

On the previous site I asked which would be the best make of model to have in the garage. The garage as it was then it would have been damp, cold and expensive to heat. Not conducive to use at certain times of the year and not what I would want to expose rail models to. I did obtain some card, resin and wood models to experiment with but I feel that card-board can easily withstand garage use. I'll report when I have gone through a 12month use .

Thanks Brian. It has taken awhile but that matters not. I am retired . It is great to see the kids so eager to help though .

Very nice mjj. Interesting thing about Celotex insulation. My son is renovating his house and put Celotex in just about every gap. Trouble is it is faced with foil and blocks wireless technolgy beautifully. He says all new house are fitted with data wires. Wireless technology room to room or building to building is a dead art.

Nicely done.. I put one of these along the floor where my electric roller doors come down as it gives a really good seal along the bottom... Link to floor seal

Couldn't help but notice you don't appear have any overhead lighting on the ceiling? Are you fitting this later? As you will certainly need a good amount of overhead lighting.
