Fitting a coupler

Hi , one of the couplings has come off my diesel shunter which is a Farish Class 4 060. From the instruction sheet, it is not clear whether I have to take body off to fit it . I have tried to push it into the connector bit but to no avail. (see photos)

it *looks* like you should be able to replace the coupler without removing the body... are you able to post a picture looking directly at the end of the loco?
