It seems that going smaller in this hobby doesn't mean cheaper. I'm just embarking on a new project in 009 narrow gauge and the prices for some items are astronomical. Take Peco wagons for instance, £20ish buys a cheap looking <2inch plastic box on wheels with very little in the way of detail. And it just cost me over £25 for two small radius setrack points, and they were below rrp. The only good value items I've come across so far are the Bachman Baldwin steam locos which are beautifully detailed and run really well on early testing, and apparently the DCC versions come with a built in speaker!
