Thanks for the images. I always appreciate seeing them but don't always say so. It is health issues on SWMBO and self that have held me back but I do hope all will be well in the future. It is lovely to see your layout and the way you have adapted it to suit your room .

A cunning plan is starting to form in the depths of my brain.

I think it was TrainTech that have started selling illuminated ground signal but IMHO they are a bit pricey but I do fancy having something on the layout to supplement the LEDs on the mimic panels.
Having found a similar kit of parts from China I plan to try making a few of my own.

No idea if it will work or if the bits I ordered will be suitable but at £7.99 for ten mounts and all the LEDs, it has to be worth a punt.

It’s funny you should say that Steve but I think the sound van is a good idea. I like background sounds it’s just squeaky loco sounds that I find annoying. I’d be quite happy with the occasional chirp, clonk, clank etc.

Just had a listen. I like the 'atmospheric sounds' but not sure about the signal box, you wouldn’t be able to hear the bell codes outside.

Agreed, some of them are unnecessary and in fact some sounds are probably just copied from existing loco TTS decoders.
My favourite, just for its description, is ‘occasional owl’ - no layout is complete without one.

It will be interesting to see if they offer the decoder as a separate item in future.

As some DCC sounds work on DC, yes I have a DCC sound loco, perhaps they could make a DC version.

I can just imagine Low Ghyll - one of Steve's A4's comes out of a tunnel sounding "tawhit tawhoo" - it's different?
