Many thanks for the input. These retaining walls are brick built, whereas the ScaleCaste wall is described as Stone Walling.
I'll make a few sections up this week and compare the two.

Those ones look very similar to the Bachmann Scenecraft ones. I think the Bachmann originals are painted dark grey to represent an engineering brick - I gave mine a rub over with a buff enamel wash to simulate the mortar. Personally, I think the stone version will give a better look as you have the option to pick out individual blocks or go for a more random pattern as I did.

I prefer brick. The retaining wall at High Wycombe is or was in the Guinness Book of Records as the worlds largest I believe. It is built of engineering brick but is many different shades plus plenty of plants growing on it.

My first attempt with the plaster cast - it needs a little practice. I mixed black paint into the mix before pouring the plaster into the mould - I think it needs to be a little darker -more paint? They do have a very rugged stone finish. Any views?

It would be interesting to compare a resin cast from the same mould. (You know my preference Barry).
The mortar courses look a little deep (adding to the coarse look) - has the plaster fully run into all the details in the mould? That may be a disadvantage compared to resin.
I like the idea of mixing colour with the plaster - no nasty white scars if they get knocked. I appreciate that you have not done any painting or weathering so they look a bit too uniform at present.
