Steve I love the way get on with things. I work the same way but often wish I took my time. I think of something to do on the layout to keep me occupied for a few days and 2 hours later it’s completed.

I usually think about something that needs doing for a few days before I get started. If I don’t finish in a reasonable time I get bored. I think it’s also why I tend to have a number of different things on the go at the same time to maintain interest.

Love the signal box Steve. You probably have done it already but paint the insid of walls black to stop light comming through the walls as well as the windows.

Sandy, I stuck aluminium tape inside the first roof to stop light bleed. I thought I would need to paint the inside of the other one - forgot to do it but I’ve not noticed any bleed yet. Now I have to go and check!

I am severely constrained by the time it takes glue to dry.

I’m sure your grass will be good Barry, although I have a mental picture of you wanting to place each strand individually.

I am finding that some of mine is not as ‘stuck’ as I thought it should be so at some point I will give it a coat of hairspray to toughen it up a bit.

Saw your video. Astonishing creation. The bridge and its waterfall is stellar. The back scene blends so smoothly. The sound is so good as to be
startling. Could we have more, please?

I’ve been having a little ‘play’ this morning.

Experimenting with a water vapourisation module (less than £5 on eBay). These are used as forgers in small water features and, I believe, this is the basis of the technology used in the new Hornby steam units.

If I can get it working reliably (very dependent on water level on the reservoir) I intend to install it in the engine shed as a smoke unit for the grandkids to play with, but in the meantime, this photo may give a clue as to what the effect may resemble in the new SS locos.

That doesn’t look too bad where it comes out of the chimney Steve, but what happens higher up, does it drop down unrealistically?

From what I saw this morning it just dissipates into the air with no obvious settling. It is just water vapour rather than the heavier oil based systems. Wouldn’t recommend it inside card buildings though.
This one is sitting alongside the loco with a carefully selected camera angle.

I picked up my Hornby catalogue after my hospital appointment - the blurb in there indicates that the three SS locos are DCC fitted with the upgraded 21 pin TTS decoder.
That makes the prices of those locos quite attractive.

I am now in the process of losing an argument with myself regarding the pre-order of a Black 5.
