ok i am now starting to lose my mind. i have just laid out my n gauge layout. the 2 main tracks have power and operate great. i have used peco power connectors to drop down to a power line and have made sure the positives are on the outside rail but i am still getting a short. more so when changing points. where am i going wrong?
this is really getting me down now and spoiling pleasure. the track is all laid but i haven't pinned it down yet until i gat the power sorted. any help would be great. oh, i use peco st-9 clips because i cannot solder.

I feel regardless of your comments you still have a crossed feed somewhere!
However, posting a track plan with feed positions marked would really help us to try and ID your problem.

Connections wrong way round in top two sidings. Follow the rail round with the red dot from those sidings and they becomes a black dots at the bottom.

Get a wagon or coach, put red tape one side and black the other side. Now wheel the wagon round the track and into every siding and make sure red side is with the red wire and black is with black, or what ever coloured wires you are using. Don’t remove the wagon from the track in case you accidentally turn it round.

I think the shaded track is yet to be laid. Otherwise, yes the polarity flips where you indicate. R-
Young at heart. Slightly older in other parts.
