Have brought to try 20 LED Station Lamps that are 3 volts each. What resister do I have to fit and do I put one in the wire of a set of 4 = 12 volts lamps. I dont have clue about this as I have never used LEDs before.
Using a 12 volt 1 amp mains unit for 20 lamps.
Station lamps
Re: Station lamps
Hi
Ideally use a 1000 (1K) ohm series resistor per lamp on 12v DC If you want the lamps a little less bright increase the resistor value up to aorund 5K ohm or more!

Re: Station lamps
In addition to the resistors recommended by Brian, I always use these to feed groups of lights on my layouts. Input 12v and you can adjust the output to get the light levels just right. Don’t be tempted to turn it down to 3v to avoid fitting a resistor - at some point you will accidentally turn it up and blow the lot.
