I think a lot of people (e.g. me!) get confused with droppers on points. Point clips seem an easy option, as long as you haven’t painted your track.

Don’t use them unless you have no choice. I believe Yelrow a member if this forum had that problem. He may be along later.

Darkscot, hi, it is I Yelrow. Just spoken to WTD. Mine, got very hot, and melted the sleepers. Avoid them, like the plague. Solution, is a doddle. Cut out the sleeper, where they go, and solder a thin piece of wire to each side of rail. They may show it on the net. If not, PM, me and i will send you a photo. It takes about 5 mins a point. I have had no problems since. john

I am presuming there was a considerable current flowing through them to do that? I only ever have one loco running on my layout at any one time, so I do not think it would be a problem. However, I will take them out just in case, they don't seem to have much effect anyway.

dont think so, just on normal DCC layout. 15 volt AC. There is a history on the net about them getting warm. You cant just take them out, as point will then not function right. Simply solder as i suggested. Its a tad safer, as they have a habit of pinging out.
