Most of the stuff on offer is good old cellulose - no good for models. I have found acrylic via somewhere associated with Aston Martin - must increase my labour charges to match.
The next project on the list - a full repaint of a ‘Duchess’ to get I’d of the disgusting brown paint Hornby used.
So, the perennial question is what is the ‘correct’ shade of crimson/maroon?
Not sure if this will work in the photos but I have prepared five quick samples for comparison - I can tell immediately which one I won’t use, but would welcome comments. The samples are unlabeled so it’s a ‘blind’ test.
I would say either of the two shades on the left, depending on the look your after ex works or weathered. The loco colour in the photo looks a little
on the pink side to me, Crimson lake should be a deeper red than shown on the loco.
