DCC BUS WIRE.

Post by The Sligo Rover »

On a DCC bus wire in star configuration, do I need to twist the bus wires if all runs are less than say 5 metres?
Is it only on much longer runs that they should be twisted?
I am sure it will be much easier if I do not have to twist them.

Personally on a short wire run I wouldn't get too hung up on twisting Bus wires! But 5 Mtrs is a longish run. That is 10Mtrs overall. Are you able to reduce this length? Not essential to do so, but every little helps!
The idea of twisting the DCC pair of Bus wires is to help reduce any induced interference. So lightly twisting them is a good option. However if you space the two wires around 2 inches (50mm) apart then that has the same effect.
In fact the rails are not twisted and are only 16.5 mm apart in OO and just 9mm in N!

The four legs of my star configuration are all less than 2 metres so I have not twisted them. Fingers crossed it will all work.
