Noch and Graham Farish figures

Hi, producing my first ever model railway and am struggling to stick down Noch/Graham Farish figures/signage etc onto my platforms without making a gluey mess around their legs etc. Using poly cement and a small paintbrush but still getting excess glue on the platform. Any suggestions for removing excess or tips for sticking them down, Weathering the platform around their feet? Any other creative ideas welcome? Thks for looking

Use a Pritt-stick or Tacky Wax. Even a tiny blob of PVA will suffice.

PVA works well. A very small amount on the sole of the shoe(s), and then use something small (Humbrol paint tin??) for the figure to lean against until the glue dries. I've used this method in the last few days - no problems at all. BB
