Resin Casting.

#1

Post by Mountain Goat »

There are various resin casting materials out there. I've tried the Sylmasta which I've found to give great results. I purchased their resin casting kit and here is a photograph to show some of my results. The mould is made first which takes a day or two to dry. The individual resin parts being cast dry much quicker. While they only take 20-30 minutes to turn to a solid material, they need two to three hours to harden up.

For anyone thinking of doing a bit of resin casting then I would also recommend this supplier. They have a few instructional videos on their website. Buying direct aldo works out relatively inexpensive for larger volumes of materials.

I'd forgotten that I'd posted this. I could do with buying more resin one of these days as I've run out, though I must admit that resin lasts ages.

Tiranti are very expensive. There are many other suppliers of rubber and resin. My son has started casting polyurethane resin model slot car bodies and buys from a company in Sutton Bridge. If I can find him at home I'll ask for you.
